Call for Papers
The 6th IEEE International Symposium on Computational Intelligence in Robotics and Automation (CIRA2005) provides an opportunity for prominent researchers, engineers and practitioners to present the latest research results, innovations, and potential future directions in computational intelligence in robotics and automation. With the ever increasing use of wireless devices combined with the miniaturization of systems, special emphasis will be placed on innovative usage of computational intelligence in the macro- and microworld networking ambient intelligence, mobile and ubiquitous computing to robotics, manufacturing systems, medical systems, health care, and automation. The Symposium covers the following topics, but is not limited to these:
- Robot manipulators
- Microhandling and -manipulation
- Modular robotics
- Evolutionary robotics
- Manipulator control
- Computer vision
- Sensor fusion
- Biologically inspired robotics
- Neural networks
- Evolutionary computing
- Fuzzy logic
- Soft computing
- Genetic algorithms
- Intelligent systems
- Adaptive and learning control
- Agent technology
- Ambient intelligence
- Co-operative robotics
- Mobile robotics
- Health-care robotics
Electronic Paper Submission
Papers are invited on all aspects of computational intelligence in robotics and automation. Six pages are allowed for each paper. Up to four additional pages will be permitted with extra charge. Full-length papers in standard IEEE format must be submitted electronically in either the PS (PostScript) or PDF (Portable Document Format) file format as per the electronic submission instructions published on the CIRA 2005 web site. The papers should be sent to the Conference Secretariat by email (office@atu.fi). Only PDF files not larger than 1 MB are accepted!
Special Session, Tutorial and Workshop Proposals
Proposals for special sessions consisting of four papers and for half and full day tutorials and workshops should be submitted to the Conference Secretariat by email (office@atu.fi). Proposals should include a statement of purposes and a summary with a list of speakers and their topics with abstracts.
Location
The conference will be held at the Helsinki University of Technology campus, just a 20 minute bus ride from downtown Helsinki and from the Airport Helsinki-Vantaa. The campus has been designed by the famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, and inspires a unique atmosphere for technical studies and research.
The conference takes place just after Midsummer, the celebration of bright white summer. The participants of the conference may enjoy the attractions of Helsinki, at a time when the city shows her most beautiful faces. You may take a sea tour to enjoy the sights of the city and the beautiful archipelago, or just walk through the historical places in the heart of the city.
After the conference, it is possible to take a post-conference trip to Lapland, St. Petersburg, Tallinn or Stockholm or continue your conference trip to Prague, Czech Republic, where the IFAC 16th World Congress takes place.
